MDCAT Aggregate Formula 2026: How Merit Is Calculated

Updated 27 October 2026

Admission to public medical and dental colleges in Pakistan is decided by an aggregate (merit) score that combines your Matric, FSc and MDCAT results. Knowing the formula helps you see which part matters most and what MDCAT score you need.

The weightage

The commonly used weightage is 10% Matric, 40% FSc and 50% MDCAT. Each part is converted to a percentage of its total marks and then multiplied by its weight.

Worked example

Aggregate = 8.75 + 33.33 + 40.00 = 82.08%. Plug your own marks into the aggregate calculator to see the result instantly.

What if FSc results are not out yet?

Many students apply with FSc Part 1 marks. Universities then use Part 1 marks (out of 550 or 600) scaled to a percentage, and update the merit once Part 2 results arrive. Check the admission notice for the exact rule.

Why MDCAT matters most

With 50% weight, each MDCAT mark out of 200 is worth 0.25 aggregate points, while each FSc mark out of 1,200 is worth only about 0.033. Ten extra MDCAT marks add 2.5 points – often the difference between colleges on the merit list.

NUST NET for comparison

NUST engineering merit uses Matric 10%, FSc 15% and NET 75%, so the entry test dominates even more. Select the NUST preset in the calculator to compare.

Weightage can change between admission years and some universities add their own tests or hafiz-e-Quran marks. Always confirm with the latest PMDC or university admission notice.
