How the compressor works
JPG files can be saved at different quality levels. The tool tries several quality settings and keeps the highest one that fits under your limit. If even low quality is too large, it reduces the image dimensions by 15% at a time. This gives a sharper result than simply lowering quality to the minimum.
Suggested sizes
| Document | Suggested limit | Suggested max width |
|---|---|---|
| CNIC / ID card scan (one side) | 100 – 200 KB | 1,000 px |
| A4 certificate or transcript | 200 – 400 KB | 1,600 px |
| Photo for WhatsApp or email | 200 – 500 KB | 1,920 px |
| Very strict portals | 50 KB | 800 px |
Popular sizes
Compress to 20KB · 50KB · 100KB · 200KB
Tips
- Crop away table edges and background before compressing – fewer pixels means better quality at the same size.
- Scan documents in good light; dark, noisy photos compress poorly.
- If a portal wants several pages in one file, convert them with JPG to PDF.
Frequently asked questions
How do I compress an image to 100 KB?
Choose the image, type 100 in “Maximum file size (KB)”, and download the result. The tool lowers JPG quality step by step and, only if needed, reduces dimensions until the file is under 100 KB.
Will compression make my document unreadable?
For scanned documents, 150–300 KB is usually plenty for clear text at A4 size. If text becomes blurry, raise the KB limit or set a max width of around 1,600 px rather than lowering quality further.
Does it work with PNG and screenshots?
Yes. PNG, WebP and JPG are converted to JPG, which is much smaller for photos and scans. Transparent areas become white.
Is there a file size or daily limit?
There is no limit set by us. Very large photos (over 30–40 megapixels) may be slow on older phones because processing happens on your device.
