About the Kuwaiti Dinar

The Kuwaiti dinar is the world’s highest-valued currency unit. It is managed against a basket of currencies, so it moves only slightly against the dollar.

Interbank vs open market rate

The interbank rate is the rate at which banks trade foreign currency with each other and is the reference used for remittances, imports and card payments. The open market rate is what exchange companies charge for cash notes; it is set by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan and sits close to the interbank rate, with a buying and selling spread.

For card purchases abroad, banks convert at their own rate plus a fee (often 2–4%), and FED/withholding tax may apply. For sending money home, compare the provider's rate with the one above. Planning gold purchases? See the gold rate in Pakistan, which moves with the dollar.

Frequently asked questions

What is the kuwaiti dinar rate in Pakistan today?

The interbank rate shown at the top of this page is today’s Kuwaiti Dinar rate in rupees. It updates daily; exchange companies may buy slightly lower and sell slightly higher.

How do I convert KWD to PKR?

Multiply the KWD amount by today’s rate. For example, 100 KWD × the rate above gives the rupee amount. The converter on this page does it for any amount, both ways.

Which rate is shown – interbank or open market?

We show the interbank (mid-market) rate, the reference rate banks trade at. Exchange companies in the open market usually buy slightly below and sell slightly above it – often by Rs 0.5 to Rs 3 for the dollar – so check your dealer’s buying and selling rate before you exchange cash.

How often are the rates updated?

Currency rates are refreshed daily and the page checks for new values every hour. The date of the rates is shown at the top of the page.

What is the best way to send money to Pakistan?

Banking channels and licensed remittance apps registered under the Pakistan Remittance Initiative are safest and usually free for the receiver. Compare the exchange rate the service offers against the interbank rate here – the gap is the hidden fee.

Why does the rupee rate change every day?

The rupee floats against other currencies. Imports, exports, remittances, IMF programme reviews, interest rates and the State Bank’s reserves all move supply and demand for dollars, and the other currencies follow the dollar’s moves.
