Shopify in Pakistan 2026: Payment Gateways, COD & Costs
Updated 1 November 2026
Shopify lets you run your own online store with your own brand and domain instead of selling on a marketplace. It works from Pakistan, but a few things are different from the US or UK – mainly payments. Here is what you need to know in 2026.
Shopify vs Daraz
| Shopify store | Daraz | |
|---|---|---|
| Customers | You bring them (ads, social media, SEO) | Daraz brings buyers |
| Fees | Monthly plan + gateway fee + Shopify's third-party fee | Commission by category + payment fee |
| Brand & customer data | Yours | Daraz's |
| Best for | Brands with repeat customers | Testing products and getting first sales |
Many sellers do both: Daraz for reach, Shopify for their own brand. Compare the margin with the Daraz commission calculator.
Payment gateways that work with Shopify in Pakistan
Shopify Payments is not available in Pakistan, so card and wallet payments go through a local third-party gateway. The most commonly used options are:
- Safepay – SBP-regulated and listed in Shopify's payment directory; cards and wallets.
- PayFast – has a Shopify app; cards, bank accounts and wallets.
- XPay – Shopify app with on-site checkout.
- JazzCash / Easypaisa – wallets, often added through one of the gateways above.
Gateways usually charge around 2–3% per transaction (quoted per merchant), and Shopify adds its own third-party transaction fee – about 2% on the Basic plan – because you are not using Shopify Payments.
Cash on delivery
Most Pakistani shoppers still pay cash on delivery. Turn it on in Shopify under manual payment methods – no app needed. Your courier collects the cash and transfers it to you after delivery, minus their charges. Confirm COD orders by phone or WhatsApp before dispatch to cut fake orders and returns.
Couriers
Leopards, TCS, PostEx, Trax and M&P all offer COD and Shopify integrations that pull orders and book shipments automatically. Compare delivery charges, COD remittance speed and return charges – returns on COD can eat a large share of your profit.
What it costs each month
- Shopify plan – the Basic plan is roughly US$29–39 a month depending on monthly or yearly billing (paid in dollars by card).
- Domain – about Rs 3,000–6,000 a year.
- Apps and theme – optional; many stores run on the free theme.
- Per-order costs – gateway fee, Shopify's third-party fee, courier and COD charges.
Tax
FBR requires online sellers to register for income tax, and couriers and gateways withhold tax on payments to sellers – more if you are not on the Active Taxpayer List. Register for an NTN with the NTN registration guide, check your status with ATL check, and estimate yearly tax with the business income tax calculator.
Plan prices, gateway rates and tax rules change. Check Shopify's pricing page, your gateway's merchant terms and FBR before you commit.
